New album "Pay Your Dues" now available!

Songs From the Road Band Releases New Album “Pay Your Dues” Songs From the Road Band announces the release of their highly-anticipated sixth album, Pay Your Dues - featuring #1 singles “Amarillo Blue” and “Outside of Omaha.”

“Bluegrass is, by nature, a collaborative form of music,” says Charles R Humphrey III, Songs From the Road Band’s bassist and bandleader. Songs From the Road Band began as a part-time collective of western North Carolina musicians. Over the years, it’s grown into a full-time touring band - with community remaining a driving force. This spirit of collaboration became especially important during the COVID-19 pandemic, through which Pay Your Dues was born.

With the exception of the album’s lone cover - a fan-favorite ‘grassed up version of Elvis’ “Suspicious Minds” - all tracks on Pay Your Dues are co-writes between Humphrey and other writers, including Marty Dodson, Nick Dauphinais, Phil Barker, album co-producer Charlie Chamberlain, and Darren Nicholson, who also delivers a soaring guest vocal on “Worlds Apart.”

Pay Your Dues also features acclaimed instrumentalists Kyle Tuttle (Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway) on banjo and Tommy Maher (Fireside Collective) on resonator guitar. In addition to the good-natured spirit of collaboration that permeates the album, the defining thread between all these tracks is that distinctive Songs From the Road Band sound. Mandolinist Mark Schimick and guitarist Sam Wharton share lead vocal duties, with harmonies provided by award-winning fiddler James Schlender. Banjoist Gabe Epstein drives the songs forward, while Humphrey’s bass playing holds everything together.

Pay Your Dues is available for streaming and digital download everywhere.
